The décor has been meticulously selected to provide a homey European-style environment that is both lush and relaxing. The original Art Nouveau details of the building have been retained, including a glazed crystal skylight, dramatic marble stairway, and handcrafted ironworks. A unique feature of the hotel is its rooftop garden and jogging track, and the Galleria Park also offers a complimentary, on-site fitness center with aerobic equipment and Universal machine. The Galleria Park, with its 171 rooms, was formerly the landmark Sutter Hotel, built in 1911. The guestrooms in this historic hotel feature high ceilings, cream-colored striped wallpaper, large closets, refrigerators, and Aveda bath products. There are oversized writing desks with good lighting, and fax machines in all rooms for the business traveler. For extra comfort, the rooms also feature thoroughly soundproof windows and individually controlled room air conditioners. The Galleria Park Hotel - a small, elegant, boutique hotel is located in the heart of downtown San Francisco, just a few blocks from the fabulous shopping of Union Square, Chinatown, the historic cable cars, the Financial District and the Moscone Convention Center. Guests are invited to sit by the original steel and plaster Art Nouveau fireplace and enjoy morning coffee and a wine reception in the evening.
